Cape Town is one the most versatile and balanced destination. There is a perfect coherence between adventure, nature, nightlife, food, people and culture. It truly feels like coming home for adventurers like you. This also counts for the surf camp Cape Town guide Michiel, who calls Cape Town home.
Even though Cape Town is 10.000km from Western Europe, it is the same time zone which makes your first days of your surf trip way more pleasant. No jetlag, Cape Town is the plug and play of travelling.
Most tourists come to Cape Town for wind related water sports. But man-o-man, when the South Eastern drops, and winter swells roll in … you don’t want to be anywhere else. The spots are never too crowded as there are countless spots within an hour drive.
Cape Town can handle any swell and wind direction, any size, any tide and provides waves for any levels from beginner to big wave surfers. You just got to know where to go, … and I would like to show you that on the ‘surf camp Cape Town’.

September is the month where people awaken from their winter sleep. Spring arrives, days are getting longer and the fynbos is blooming.
Spring in South Africa means the perfect combination between wind, waves and sunny days. Winter swells are still rolling in consistently, and the wind awakens closer to October – November. This also means that the water is warmer as the strong South Easter cools down the water in a matter of hours. Cape Town is exposed to the cold Atlantic current so bring your wetsuit. Preferably a 4/3 or a 5/3 mm.
Ow … and generally speaking, flights are cheaper too.

It would be a shame if we would mission down the Cape Peninsula for the countless world class surf breaks. There are countless bays, points and beaches orientated differently. Meaning all wind and swell direction can provide good surf somewhere. Ranging from hollow down the line waves, slabs to mellow long rides.
The spots up North (Table Bay – West Coast) are not at all sharky. Spots down South can be, but this should not mean you have to fear them. We have co-existed for thousands of years. Realise that many people surf at those spots all day every day without any problems. I’ll write a full blog post on why you shouldn’t fear sharks and what to do when you encounter one.
Let’s talk about this Surf Adventure in Cape Town.

Practically all waves are sandy beach breaks. And I’m sure you’ll concur that they are the most scenic spots you’ve ever surfed.
